It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard G. Christie, our much loved partner, father, grandfather and friend. Richard left this world for his eternal home on June 30th, 2026 with family at his bedside. His life was filled with love and laughter, with dedication and service to his family, community and country.
Richard’s early years were marked by his education at Peacock Military Academy where he graduated with honors. He pursued further studies at Texas A&M University where his passion for learning continued to grow. Although he did not complete his degree, his time there was foundational to further shaping his character and intellect.
Richard served proudly in the United States Air Force, dedicating several years of his life to the defense of his country. His experiences in the military further advanced the sense of discipline and patriotism which he carried throughout his life.
Following his military service, Richard embarked on a long and fulfilling career with the Texas Department of Highways, now known as TxDOT. His commitment and work ethic were exemplary, and he remained a respected member of the department until his well-earned retirement.
Richard had a deep love for both horses and dogs and was never quite content without at least one of them nearby. He chose his animals based on brain power and temperament, and typically trained them himself.
Richard’s legacy is carried on by his beloved partner, Dorothy Newcomb; his son, Robert Christie, daughter Callie Larsen, grandchildren Scottlyn and Phoenix, and great granddaughter Ezra.
A memorial service celebrating Richard’s life will be held on July 31st, 2026 at 11:00am at St. John’s Methodist Church, 311 E University, Georgetown. His family invites all who knew and loved him to join in remembering this remarkable man.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Richard’s memory to Wounded Warriors, Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society, Living Grace Canine Ranch, All Things Wild or to a charity of your choice.
Richard Christie will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace, knowing he fought a warrior’s battle all the way, and knowing he was loved fully, beyond measure.
