Virginia Lee Jones Anderson died August 13, 2023, in Georgetown, Texas. She was born July 25, 1920, at Shawnee, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma, and was 103 years old. She was the oldest of three children born to Dudley H. Jones and Winnie Davis (Hanes) Jones.  At the age of 1 ½ she moved with her parents to Oklahoma City where she grew up. She graduated from Central High School and Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University, with a commerce/business degree.

She was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company where she met Leonard (Andy) Anderson.  They were married May 22, 1943, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and enjoyed 67 years together.  He died May 9, 2011. During his work with Phillips they lived in Odessa, Texas, Borger Texas, Bartlesville Oklahoma, and Oklahoma City.  They raised three children: Karen Anderson Turner, Janis Anderson and Nancy Anderson.  They moved to Sun City, Georgetown, Texas, in 1999 and were members of First United Methodist Church of Georgetown.

Andy and Virginia traveled many places in the world and had many interests.  Genealogy was her special interest and she was a member of several legacy groups.  She was a past regent of Josiah Bartlett Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution in Borger Texas. She was a member of Daniel Coleman Chapter DAR in Georgetown Texas. She was a member of Colonial Dames, 17th Century in Amarillo and Austin, Texas, Dames of the Court of Honor and several more.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andy; her parents; her daughter, Janis Lyn Anderson and sisters, Martha Moyer and Dorothy Hamill.  She is survived by her daughters; Karen Anderson Turner and husband Lloyd Turner of Abilene, Texas; and Nancy Sue Anderson of Georgetown, Texas; Granddaughter Susan Turner Coleman and Husband Jarrett Coleman and great grandsons Brett and Pearce Coleman of Castle Pines, Colorado.  

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 22,  from 2-4 p.m. at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas. Graveside services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13313 North Kelley Avenue, Oklahoma City.
