Virginia Zant Trchalek

Virginia Zant Trchalek passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, in Georgetown, Texas, after suffering a stroke.

Virginia was born in Stephenville, Texas, on August 11, 1943, and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas.  She attended Sam Houston State University.  Virginia served the Pastor of the United Methodist Church in Elkhart as secretary, and worked at Lakeview Methodist Assembly and Edward D. Jones in Palestine, Texas.

She ran for and won a position on the Elkhart School Board, serving as Trustee for many years and was named to the State Board of Trustees. She then went on to serve as a Consultant for Leadership TASB, a program of the Texas Association of School Boards, retiring from there in 2006.  Virginia spent her years in retirement traveling the world and spending time with her family.

Her integrity, values and quick wit were qualities she instilled in her family and were reflected in her daily life.

Virginia is survived by her husband of seven years, Juergen Schallwig, of Georgetown; her two daughters, Barbara Stewart and her husband Edward; Brenda Roth and her husband Patrick, along with her two granddaughters Gabrielle and Callie Roth; and her sister, Dixie Turnbow. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Norman Trchalek; and her parents, Albert Willis and Margaret Elizabeth Zant.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Austin Police Operation Blue Santa, or a charity of your choosing.
