Georgetown transportation projects see price increases

Austin Avenue bridge rehab This is the rehabilitation of the Austin Avenue bridge that includes new safety rated rails, required maintenance and a new bridge deck. The original estimated completion date was April 15, 2026, but has been pushed back to August.

City of Georgetown issues $38 million for fire station, services

Georgetown City Council approved a notice of intent to issue Certificates of Obligation totaling $38,285,000 for 2026. Certificates of Obligation, according to the Texas Comptroller’s office, provide local governments with flexibility in financing projects without voter approval.

City of Georgetown in final phases of Unified Development Code adoption

Georgetown’s updated Unified Development Code – which sets out the standards for development and zoning in the city – is almost finalized. The coming months will involve public engagement to inform residents and businesses of the changes before adoption on April 28 and an effective date of August 1.

Georgetown ponders 2027 bond, possible projects still uncertain

Nick Woolery Georgetown residents could see another bond election in May 2027, although the specific projects up for vote have not yet been decided. The last city bond election took place in November 2023 and included multiple facility projects and building expansions.

In 2026 and beyond, the City of Georgetown continues to work on transportation projects that are parts of bonds, master plans and other traffic improvement initiatives. Below are some of the projects the city is working on that will be finished during the new year.

Residents receive road updates in District 5 town hall

District 5 Council Member Kevin Pitts held a town hall meeting September 30, where he, County Judge Steve Snell and Georgetown City Manager David Morgan spoke about this year’s city budget, Georgetown’s water territory sales, county updates and the Texas Legislative session.

Georgetown City council ponders which grass is greener

The future layout for San Gabriel Park will include nine baseball diamonds, more than 15 soccer field configurations and two sand volleyball courts. The layout update represents the fourth phase of renovations at the park, which were presented to Georgetown City Council April 8.
