Georgetown PD to use Flock cameras for license plate readers

During the March 11 city council meeting, Georgetown City Council unanimously approved a four year contract with Flock Safety to install and maintain 10 license plate readers in high traffic areas in an amount not to exceed $29,954.10 for the first year and $28,710 in subsequent years.

City of Georgetown observes closures for Good Friday, Easter

The City of Georgetown offices and facilities will close on April 3 and April 5 for Good Friday and Easter. There will be normal solid waste and recycling collection on April 3. The library will be open on Friday, April 3, and will be closed April 4 and 5.

Additionally, parking on the Square is maintained on the courthouse side of the road, while the existing parking in front of businesses is replaced by a widened pedestrian area. Georgetown City Council reviewed preliminary schematics February 24 for the major planned redesign of Austin Avenue, along with changes to roads around the Square and nearby intersections.

Georgetown passes state quality-of-life benchmarks

Based on feedback from 652 Georgetown residents, Georgetown scored “significantly” higher than U.S. and Texas averages in 47 out of the 49 areas assessed in the biennial survey that was sent out to gather feedback on city services and quality of life.

Georgetown transportation projects see price increases

Austin Avenue bridge rehab This is the rehabilitation of the Austin Avenue bridge that includes new safety rated rails, required maintenance and a new bridge deck. The original estimated completion date was April 15, 2026, but has been pushed back to August.

City of Georgetown issues $38 million for fire station, services

Georgetown City Council approved a notice of intent to issue Certificates of Obligation totaling $38,285,000 for 2026. Certificates of Obligation, according to the Texas Comptroller’s office, provide local governments with flexibility in financing projects without voter approval.
