Jarrell ISD May 6 bond proposal
Jarrell ISD trustees approve $324.6 million bond package for May 6 ballot

Jarrell ISD trustees unanimously agreed Wednesday, February 8, to hold a school bond election on May 6. The bond totals $324.6 million and includes the construction of two elementary schools and a middle school.
Trustees approved the bond package at a special school board meeting.

Southwestern University honored two Georgetown residents, John Dixon and Jenifer Spiller, for their service to the university as Southwestern staff members. They were awarded the 2022 Mundy Awards for Exemplary Service.

Jarrell ISD names principal for new elementary school

The Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees approved Craig Wilson as the principal of Double Creek Elementary, the district’s new elementary school opening in August. Mr. Wilson will join JISD on February 1.

An egg-cellent teaching opportunity at Goodwater Montessori School

Goodwater Montessori School students will soon be counting their chickens — and the revenue they’ll be making in egg sales during their study of microeconomics.
Parents, staff and students gathered Saturday, January 21, to build a chicken coop to house several dozen chickens.

Jarrell ISD studying four-day school week

As a strategy to improve teacher retention, Jarrell ISD is studying reducing the school week from five days to four.
JISD Communications Director Nick Spinetto said the four-day week concept in JISD is “exploratory” at this time and is being looked at as a way to keep teachers.
