Three-story mixed-use concept granted courthouse view waiver

After a public hearing Tuesday, January 23, a conceptual design for a three-story building at 200 West Sixth Street was given a waiver that would allow it to potentially block the view of the courthouse from Interstate 35.

Filings for Georgetown City Council and GISD May elections open
The next general election for Georgetown City Council and Georgetown ISD School Board positions will take place on May 4. The first day to file for a place on the general election ballot was January 17. During the January 9 Georgetown City Council workshop, council members heard about the Capital Improvement Project Roll Forward Budget Amendment for the FY24 budget, which would increase appropriation by $553.3 million.

Georgetown City Council hears plans for bike paths, downtown fixtures

In a recent slew of possible updates to the Downtown Master Plan, the Georgetown City Council was presented with proposals for downtown bike paths and creating a “curated downtown” during a January 9 workshop.

Georgetown pursues book locker program, grant application

A new book locker funded by the Friends of the Georgetown Public Library could be coming to the Carver Center for Families.
The locker would allow someone to check an item out online through the Georgetown Public Library.

City rejects bids associated with Austin Avenue Bridge rehabilitation

In late November, the City of Georgetown opened up bids for a project to reconstruct Austin Avenue between Second Street and Morrow Street. This would have included the rehabilitation of the Austin Avenue Bridges over the North and South portions of the San Gabriel River.

Georgetown City Council members were presented with Fiscal Year 2023 year-end budget amendments December 12. Every year, city staff estimate the expense and revenue year-end projections based on the annual budget.

As part of Georgetown’s ongoing discussions about the Downtown Master Plan, Georgetown City Council heard updates about a plan to create a Rock Street promenade that would include a large public walkway.

Georgetown, Wilco enter into two interlocal agreements

Two interlocal agreements between Georgetown and Williamson County were approved by the City Council during the December 12 meeting.
The first agreement is related to design and construction for water line improvements along Ronald Reagan Boulevard. The city will take on 40.
