Georgetown water users will see two rate increases this year

Beginning in April, Georgetown residents will see an average increase of about $10.10 in their monthly water utility bills, and an additional increase will take place again in October.

Georgetown City Council chooses Austin Avenue pedestrian bridges design

Georgetown City Council decided to move forward with a design for the Austin Avenue Pedestrian Bridge during their meeting on February 27, despite the council having to re-bid the project and some members reluctantly agreeing on a design.

Georgetown City Council to raise maximum Square building heights

As part of the continued discussion around building heights in the downtown area, Georgetown City Council provided city staff direction to raise the allowed building height in the outer parts of the nineblock Square from 40 feet.

Study findings show micro-trenching recommendations to Georgetown City Council

As Georgetown continues to look into micro-trenching practices to install new internet fiber optic cables, third-party group Halff and Associates presented their findings and recommendations for micro-trenching in the city during the February 13 Georgetown City Council workshop.

City council incumbents unopposed

Georgetown City Council District 1 representative Amanda Parr and District 5 representative Kevin Pitts are both running unopposed this spring, after no other candidates filed with the city as of the February 16 deadline. Both incumbent council members will retain their seats for another term.

Georgetown raises rates for municipal airport

The hangar rates at the Georgetown Municipal Airport are set to increase. The expected hangar rates will be effective on April 1.
Hangar rates have not been adjusted since 2015.

Resident survey evaluates city services

The results of the most recent Georgetown Resident Survey show that of the 1,213 responses the city received, 94 percent of the respondents rated Georgetown’s overall quality of life as either good or excellent.

New short-term rental rules coming to Georgetown

Georgetown electric to implement buy all/sell all plan for new solar customers

In an effort to more equitably recoup the expenses of the electric department, Georgetown officials are updating the Net Energy Metering program so that solar and non-solar users share the fixed costs of running the electric department.
