Georgetown sets stage for second water rate increase

Current water and wastewater rates will not cover the revenue needs of Georgetown utilities by the 2025 Fiscal Year, according to a study by consultant NewGen Strategies and Solutions. This will lead to a temporary department budget shortfall that will be covered through available fund balances.

New development could introduce mix of housing options

A development with a mix of multi-family and single-family housing — including 153 townhomes, 360 apartments and 127 single-family units — could be brought to northeast Georgetown’s extraterritorial jurisdiction through the Serenity Ranch Municipal Utility District.

Georgetown tax rate to stay the same in FY 2025

Average Georgetown homeowners should see a decrease in the city portion of their property tax bills next year. The City of Georgetown is building its budget for the next fiscal year based on this year’s current city tax rate.

New city programs encourage saving electricity

Georgetown will be implementing a new energy efficiency and conservation program for electric utility customers starting October 1. The program will promote customer education and offer chances for residents to manage bills and energy usage, according to the city.

City reevaluates approval process

Development code standards and infill development processes will see some changes in Georgetown’s historic neighborhoods as the city continues to update its Unified Development Code.

New Georgetown YMCA property brought into city

The future home of Georgetown’s YMCA has been brought into the city limits and zoned to general commercial, paving the way for the bond-supported facility and gym on the city’s northwest edge.
