Georgetown continues talks with YMCA, adds land to ETJ

As a part of Georgetown City Council’s approval of its consent agenda for the October 10 meeting, there have been further developments in the YMCA and City of Georgetown partnership, the relocation of a Round Rock water line was approved and more land has been added to the Georgetown ETJ.

Georgetown City Council discuss changes to downtown

Georgetown City Council looked at redesign options for the areas in downtown Georgetown that would alter traffic flow, remove some parking spaces and create a flexible festival street on Main Street.

Three properties leave Georgetown ETJ

Three properties previously located within Georgetown’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, totaling 85.746 acres, were de-annexed and removed from the ETJ Tuesday, September 26, after City Council accepted a petition submitted by landowners.

Georgetown council approves historic home tax exemption

Historic homes primarily in the Old Town and downtown areas doing certain outdoor repairs of $10,000 or more will receive a tax exemption starting at 25 percent.
The program was approved on its first reading during the regular meeting of Georgetown City Council at its September 12 meeting.

Georgetown, Habitat for Humanity to repair homes of residents

Georgetown could receive funding from the county to support the repairs of 20 homes of Georgetown residents.
Previously, the county awarded the city $150,000 through the Community Development Block Grant for 2022 to go toward the city’s Home Repair Program.

Georgetown funds agreement with Wilco and Cities Health District

A funding agreement between the City of Georgetown and the Williamson County and Cities Health District was approved by city council members during their regular meeting September 12.
The funding agreement will allow WCCHD to continue providing services for the citizens of Georgetown.

The four proposed industrial district would have covered areas of the ETJ in the north, west, east and southeastern parts of the ETJ.
Georgetown pauses making ETJ industrial districts

Georgetown is pressing pause on creating industrial districts in its extraterritorial jurisdiction because of future guidance cities may receive from the state on creating such districts.
The initiative to create an industrial district emerged from language seen in Senate Bill 2038.

Georgetown will increase water rates next month

Georgetown water rates will increase 13 percent starting in October, as set by the City Council during Tuesday’s meeting. The statutory consent agenda shows the rate raise was budgeted in the 2024 Fiscal Year Annual Budget.

Average homeowner to see city taxes rise

Despite the property tax rate staying the same for the 2024 Fiscal Year, the average Georgetown homeowner can expect to pay approximately $125 more per month in taxes than last year.
The proposed tax rate for Fiscal Year 2024 is 37.40 cents per $100 valuation.
