Georgetown, Williamson County first responders teach CPR on the Square

Cardiac-arrest victims have a 45 percent higher chance of survival when CPR chest compressions are started before first responders arrive at the scene. With that in mind, Georgetown Fire Department and Williamson County EMS held 10-minute hands-only CPR demonstrations on the courthouse lawn June 3.

New fire station to improve response times near Teravista

Over the next two fiscal years, the Georgetown Fire Department will design, build and put into operation an eighth fire station at Westinghouse Road and Farm to Market 1460 and a pilot EMS model on State Highway 29.

Off-duty Georgetown firefighter dies in motorcycle crash

An off-duty Georgetown firefighter was involved in a fatal crash while driving Friday morning, April 11, on Highway 29 west of Wolf Ranch Parkway. The firefighter, Kurt Lentz, was taken by ambulance to Ascension Seton Williamson Hospital, where he died shortly before 10 a.m.

Fire department strives to reduce response times

Facing increased demands for service due to population growth, the Georgetown Fire Department is aiming to get response times down to nine minutes to get to residents in medical distress earlier and to stop the spread of fires.

Santa trades in cookies for pancakes

Santa will come to town and eat breakfast in his favorite city December 21. The annual Breakfast with Santa event will take place at the Community Center in San Gabriel Park from 7:30 to 11 a.m.

New fire dog book sparks conversation about following dreams

The Georgetown Fire Department Pipes and Drums revives after covid

 The Georgetown Fire Department Pipes and Drums will perform one of their first major events since the Covid-19 pandemic on September 11.Assistant Chief Jeff Davis, the pipe major of the band, currently leads eight pipers, who include firefighters and two police officers.
