Anything can help: Nonprofit seeks volunteers to deliver Christmas meals

Since the early 1990s, Holiday Meals Delivered has worked to make sure Georgetown households have access to gift baskets and a special holiday meal on Christmas. This year, the nonprofit is again looking for volunteers, as well as monetary donations.

Georgetown sprouts a new supermarket

Sprouts Farmers Market held their Georgetown grand opening November 22-24. Shoppers got 20 percent off their purchases and the first 100 customers on Friday and Saturday received a reusable tote filled with freebies.  Sprouts began as a fruit stand in San Diego, California, in 1943.

Georgetown serves up community on Thanksgiving

Georgetown's Community Thanksgiving was held Thursday, November 28, 2024, at the San Gabriel Community Center in San Gabriel Park.  About 200 pounds of turkey breast, combined with numerous side dishes, drinks and desserts were provided at no charge to anyone who wanted a Thanksgiving meal.

Mayor Schroeder, Judge Ward to ignite holiday spirit

Georgetown Mayor Josh Schroeder and County Judge Will Ward will lead the crowd at this year’s Lighting of the Square, counting down to the big moment when twinkling lights illuminate the area, creating a scene straight out of a Hallmark Christmas movie.

Christmas Stroll expands opportunity for holiday fun

Georgetown’s Christmas Stroll will have a superhero theme for its 43rd year, and organizers have added a third day of festivities, music and winter fun to the schedule. The three-day festival takes place in downtown Georgetown December 6-8.

Short-term rental owners must register with city

Georgetown’s preliminary short-term rental program went live on November 19. The program was approved by Georgetown City Council in September and required rental owners to register with the city and pay hotel occupancy taxes for bookings.

Veterans’ dreams take flight

On a brisk November morning at Georgetown airport’s Cutter Aviation hangar, veterans and their spouses from The Oaks Gracious Retirement Living waited anxiously for their Dream Flight.
