New three-story building headed downtown

A groundbreaking ceremony for a three-story mixed-use building on the corner of Sixth Street and Austin Avenue occurred Thursday, February 22.

Color the sky with kites at Garey Park

Bring your kite to color the sky at Garey Park with the Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department’s Color the Sky Kite Day on March 24.  The event will be held on in the meadow of Garey Park, 6450 RM 2243, from 1-4 p.m. Attendees will have to pay the park entrance fee.

Georgetown High School boys win 5A State swim meet for second year in a row

Competing against 50 other schools on the highest stage, Georgetown High School boys swimmers came out on top this weekend in the Class 5A University Interscholastic League  finals. The swim event took place this weekend, February 23-24, at the University of Texas at Austin.

Georgetown resident stars on ‘Farmer Wants A Wife’

“I never thought that I would go on a date with a man and four other women. It was different than I was expecting,” said Georgetown resident Erin Sossamon, who was featured as a contestant on the FOX reality show Farmer Wants a Wife earlier this month.

Fire department demands have grown with the community

There has been a 46 percent increase in emergency system demand in Georgetown since 2020, and the city’s fire department expects a 5 percent increase year over year for Georgetown in 2024, Fire Chief John Sullivan told city council February 13.

Resident survey evaluates city services

The results of the most recent Georgetown Resident Survey show that of the 1,213 responses the city received, 94 percent of the respondents rated Georgetown’s overall quality of life as either good or excellent.  During the February 13 Georgetown City Council workshop, Dr.

Four-proposition GISD bond totaling $649.5 million to come to voters in May 4 election

Georgetown ISD trustees unanimously voted February 12 to hold a school bond election on Saturday, May 4. Spread across four proposals, the bond package totals $649.5 million, which, if approved, would result in a one-cent tax increase per $100 property valuation.

New ownership, same Texas Traditions Roofing

Texas Traditions Roofing was started in August of 2014 by Mike Pickel and his brother-in-law Gary Emory. The award-winning roofing company does both residential and commercial work. In January, ownership shifted to Mr. Pickel’s son, Micheal, and Bryan Chisholm.
