Riverbank cleanup coming to Rivery Park

The City of Georgetown will host a riverbank cleanup event in Rivery Park on December 9.  Volunteers can check in for the event beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the city table near the playground, which is located in the middle of the park.  A safety briefing will happen at 8:55 a.m.

Voters shoot down ESD 8 sales and use tax

The unofficial voting results for Williamson County show that the proposal for Emergency Service District 8 to implement a new sales and use tax has failed.  In a close vote, 53.

Georgetown voters approve $135 million in bonds

Results that came in on the night of Election Day, November 7, show Georgetown voters in support of all four proposed city bonds, totaling $135 million.  The final unofficial results show 51.05 percent of voters supported Proposition A. Proposition B saw 58.97 percent of voters in favor and 67.

Courage and Grit: ROCK hosts second Cowgirl Brunch

Georgetown nonprofit Ride on Center for Kids held its second annual Cowgirl Brunch on November 4. During the event, the second Dr. Barbara Brightwell Courage & Grit Award was presented to Rebecca “Hunter” Adkins. Ms. Adkins was appointed by the governor to serve on the Texas Disabilities Council.

JP3 host Veteran’s Lunch December 1

Williamson County Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Court will host a Veterans Appreciation Lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, December 1, at Georgetown Church of Christ.     The meal will include chicken spaghetti, green beans, corn, garlic bread and dessert.

Light your holiday spirit later this month

The annual Lighting of the Square will happen on November 24 and will give families a chance to enjoy entertainment, donate toys and hear from city and county representatives. The lighting will occur on the east steps of the courthouse.

FINAL RESULTS: All Georgetown bond propositions approved by city voters

Update November 8, 12:20 a.m.: City props approved Georgetown residents have approved all four bond propositions on the November 7 election.  With all polling locations reporting results, Proposition A received support from 51.05 percent of voters. Proposition B is saw support from 58.

Justice, healing, hope

The Williamson County Child Advocacy Center held its grand opening in Georgetown on Friday November 3,  after two years of construction. The building will offer abused children and their families services for recovery.
