New watering regulations now effective in Georgetown

Georgetown’s new irrigation regulations are in effect beginning Wednesday, April 26. The regulations are the result of ordinances passed by council earlier this month in an attempt to increase the conservation efforts within the City of Georgetown Water Utility.

The Georgetown Sertoma Club's 20th Red Poppy Ride on Saturday, April 22, 2023 began in the parking lot behind Richarte High School. Participants cycled through various areas of Williamson County. Distances for rides were 14, 28, 40, 60 and 100 miles.

Follow the light: An impressive commitment to wet plate photography

Although I met Georgetown photographer Tom Cavness at last month’s Georgetown Photography Festival, it was surprising to see him early one morning last weekend at Taylor’s Bull Branch Park, working with his 8x10 format Burke & James camera, made in 1933.

Southwestern breaks ground on major campus renovations

Southwestern University officials and students broke ground Friday, April 14, on the single largest building project in the school’s history. Christopher Cragg, chair of Southwestern’s board of trustees, spoke before a group wielded ceremonial shovels outside of Mood-Bridwell Hall.
