Land purchased for future Southeast Georgetown park

The City of Georgetown has purchased 35 acres of land in the southeastern portion of the city for a new park.
The park will be located at the intersection of SE Inner Loop and Southwestern Boulevard.
The land was purchased for $6 million.

Special event applications process to change

Applications for special events are being changed to create a more streamlined process for both applicants and Georgetown city staff.
Discussed at the August 8 meeting, city staff presented the new procedures, fee structures and requested feedback from the council.

73-year-old mother killed by son in Georgetown murder/suicide

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office said Friday, August 11, that 52-year-old Albert Rodriguez shot and killed his mother, Sylvia Rodriguez, 73, on Thursday afternoon, August 10, and then killed himself.
The deaths took place at about 5 p.m.

Third mosquito trap tests positive for West Nile in Georgetown

On Thursday, August 10, a mosquito trap on Yellow Rose Trail in Sun City tested positive for the West Nile Virus.
The city is currently evaluating whether or not to spray the area, and a decision will be made early next week.

Georgetown working to secure long-term groundwater supply
