Amplify Austin fundraiser to kick off on Wednesday

Amplify Austin is about to kick off again, shining a light on the nonprofit organizations that need support this year.  The annual Central Texas event is a 24-hour call to fundraise, publicized by nonprofit I Live Here, I Give Here for more than 10 years. This year’s event will start at 6 p.m.

New BiG residential community takes shape in Weir

Construction is underway at Grace Place, the new residential community that will serve Brookwood in Georgetown.  BiG is a nonprofit vocational community where adults with special needs learn to become artisans, bakers, card makers, jewelry makers and more.

Kiwanis Club of Sun City holds Pancake Breakfast for Key Club

Kiwanis Club of Sun City members and guests attended a pancake breakfast February 4 at Applebee’s in Georgetown. The event supports one of Kiwanis’ main projects: key clubs for high school students in Georgetown and Jarrell.

ROCK to throw March 1 kick off event for Amplify Austin fundraiser

Georgetown nonprofit organization ROCK, Ride On Center for Kids, is hosting a kickoff party and fundraiser for Amplify Austin Day 2023. The family-friendly event takes place 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, at Tejas Meat Supply, 101 East Seventh Street.

Georgetown nonprofit wants to lend a helping hand

Volunteers with nonprofit group Georgetown Helpers set out with one goal in mind — put their skills to use for the good of the community.  The group performs home maintenance tasks and repair services that range from a few hours to two days.

American Legion Post 174 conducts Four Chaplains Memorial Service

American Legion Post 174 held a Four Chaplains Memorial Service on Saturday, January 21, prior to their quarterly fellowship breakfast. Post Chaplain Michael Meccia organized the event.  The Four Chaplains were aboard the S.S. Dorchester headed to Greenland during World War II.

Holiday Meals Delivered in desperate need of volunteers this Christmas

A yearly Georgetown Christmas tradition will deliver meals to people in need again on December 25.  Holiday Meals Delivered has been bringing a hot Christmas morning meal to families in need for 23 years. The effort is headed up by Beth Jenkins, owner of Pilot’s Choice in Georgetown.
