Williamson County nonprofits raise $1 million in 24 hours

Round Rock roundabout restructures roads

“No more stoplights. No more bouncy railroad tracks,” said County Commissioner Terry Cook, who drives in the area of the new and improved Ranch To Market Road 620 and Deep Wood Drive intersection in Round Rock twice a week.

Austin Lacrosse company donates to local teams

Father, coach and founder of Austin-based company Phantom Lacrosse, Michael Hazy, strung 115 new lacrosse heads to celebrate the return of lacrosse to the Olympics after 115 years. Phantom is donating all 115 of them to youth lacrosse teams in Texas, including Williamson County.

New aquatic center in Round Round underway

Chasco Family YMCA broke ground on a new outdoor aquatic center Friday, February 23.    Named the Carl and Deanna Miller Family Pool, the new facility will be located behind the YMCA on 812 North Mays Street in Round Rock.

Construction designs on BCRUA pipeline

Construction crews will begin work on the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority pipeline in Lake Travis on Wednesday, February  28.  The city will permanently replace 1,400 feet of the underwater pipeline. The city will be turning off water from the pipe during the construction period.

Comptroller publishes February sales tax data

The Texas Comptroller released updated sales tax data for February 2024.     When looking at the data, Liberty Hill brought in 58.60 percent less in sales tax revenues when compared to February 2023. On the other side of the county, Taylor brought in 56.51 percent more in sales tax revenues.

A Roller Rumble

Hidden behind the warehouses of Forest Commons Business Park off of Gattis School Road, Rock Sports Arena welcomes a particular group through its doors. The Rock’n City Roller Roller Derby League makes their way into the multipurpose gym.

Historic Round Rock house returns home

The Palm House in Round Rock will be relocated to its original site this week, in preparation to renovate the former liberty on Main Street.

Sales tax increases overall in county in newest report

Kicking off the new year, most of the cities in the county have seen increased revenue when comparing sales tax from January 2023 to January 2024.    Most notably, Taylor’s sales tax grew over 100 percent, allowing the city to rank in over $3.3 million.
