Georgetown City council ponders which grass is greener

The future layout for San Gabriel Park will include nine baseball diamonds, more than 15 soccer field configurations and two sand volleyball courts. The layout update represents the fourth phase of renovations at the park, which were presented to Georgetown City Council April 8.

Southwestern University women place second in championship golf tournament

The Southern Collegiate Athletic Association championship golf tournament challenged “The New Course” at the White Bluff Resort in Whitney, northwest of Waco. This was a fresh golfing challenge, since the Texas tournament had been contested in Kerrville for the past several years.

Georgetown’s own drafted by Minnesota Vikings

East View High School alumnus Levi Drake Rodriguez was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round of the NFL draft Saturday afternoon.He was at his some in Georgetown, surrounded by friends and family when he got the call from the Vikings organization.

Austin Lacrosse company donates to local teams

Father, coach and founder of Austin-based company Phantom Lacrosse, Michael Hazy, strung 115 new lacrosse heads to celebrate the return of lacrosse to the Olympics after 115 years. Phantom is donating all 115 of them to youth lacrosse teams in Texas, including Williamson County.

Georgetown High School boys win 5A State swim meet for second year in a row

Competing against 50 other schools on the highest stage, Georgetown High School boys swimmers came out on top this weekend in the Class 5A University Interscholastic League  finals. The swim event took place this weekend, February 23-24, at the University of Texas at Austin.

Hidden behind the warehouses of Forest Commons Business Park off of Gattis School Road, Rock Sports Arena welcomes a particular group through its doors. The Rock’n City Roller Roller Derby League makes their way into the multipurpose gym.

Patriot volleyball team tops Elgin, 3-0

By Reporting Intern, Alexis Billingslea     On Friday, September 8 the East View Lady Patriots topped the Elgin High Lady Wildcats with a 3-0 win. Starting the Pats’ first set strong, Ashlyn Walther scored the initial two points with back-to-back aces.

Windsong Farm rider Jaycee Ferguson becomes Texas state champ

Charging through events at the Texas High School Rodeo State Finals, Jaycee Ferguson, a rider from Georgetown’s Windsong Farm, recently took home Texas State Championship honors in pole bending. The competition was held June 1-10 in Abilene.
