County debuts Atlas 14 results

Williamson County began hosting its public meeting series about the initial Altas 14 Flood Study results on May 29.   The preliminary data shows that extreme flooding event precipitation levels have increased by two inches in a 100-year flood.

Dan’s the man: Williamson County honors former judge Dan A. Gattis at pavilion naming ceremony

Williamson County has named its new pavilion at the Williamson County Expo Center after a former county judge.  The county gathered at the Expo Center in Taylor to celebrate the Judge Dan A. Gattis Pavilion Thursday afternoon, April 11.  “Thank y’all so much,” Judge Gattis said during a speech.

One dead in Taylor after head-on collision

Taylor Police Department responded to the first fatal collision in Taylor for 2024 on February 21 at 2:34 p.m. Police were dispatched to a report of a reckless driver in the 3000 block of South Main Street.

Report: Samsung contributed $27 billion to Austin area

Samsung Austin Semiconductor released its 2023 Economic Impact Report.Conducted by a third party, the report highlights $26.8 billion in economic contribution and impact generated through operations of the Austin fab and the construction of the future manufacturing facility in Taylor.

Comptroller publishes February sales tax data

The Texas Comptroller released updated sales tax data for February 2024.     When looking at the data, Liberty Hill brought in 58.60 percent less in sales tax revenues when compared to February 2023. On the other side of the county, Taylor brought in 56.51 percent more in sales tax revenues.

Taylor child reported missing

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office found 8-year-old Layken Stokes of Taylor.      On Wednesday, January 31, at approximately 8:20 p.m.

Sales tax increases overall in county in newest report

Kicking off the new year, most of the cities in the county have seen increased revenue when comparing sales tax from January 2023 to January 2024.    Most notably, Taylor’s sales tax grew over 100 percent, allowing the city to rank in over $3.3 million.

Hutto  Tesla has expanded into Hutto. The automotive company is occupying an industrial building located on 200 County Road 199. According to the Texas Department of Licencing and Regulation, the company plans for the $1.5 million renovation to “accommodate new tenant's equipment.
