Cold, wet weather impacts UIL golf event

Sun City’s Legacy Hills Golf Course hosted many of the elite Texas University Interscholastic League 6A girls teams in a fall preview this past week. However, the weather intervened with the finish.

New golf coach at Georgetown High School

The Georgetown Eagle girls and boys teams have welcomed a new head golf coach. Casey Leatherman, a Texas prep golfer who also played collegiate golf within the state, will now lead the high school teams.

Texas UIL championships held at Sun City

The final PGA Tour event of 2022 in Texas tees off Wednesday, November 10, at the Cadence Bank Houston Open. The Memorial Park Golf course, which only a couple years ago was renovated to PGA levels, hosts the tournament. Previously hosted in Humble, the event moved to this site several years ago.

Southwestern ends fall golf season

The Southwestern fall golf season is over, just as quickly as it began. Thewomenand men from Southwestern completed the fall run at the WinStar Crusader Invitational on October 25 in Thackerville, Oklahoma. The event, which had been scheduled for two days, was reduced to one day due to rain.

Berry Creek championships complete

Berry Creek Country Club champions have been crowned and the ladies victor is not a surprise. It’s her eighth club championship. Once again, Susie Teitelbaum won the championship — this time by four strokes. “This was so special,” she said. “(I) feel so blessed.

Sun City Women’s Golf Association crowns champion

The Sun City Women’s Golf Association 18-hole group has crowned its champion for 2022 after a rigorous 54 holes of golf last week. It mandated a test on all three championship courses between October 10 and 13.

Golf senior champs crowned

Cimarron Hills Golf and Country Club crowned its 2022 senior women and men’s champions this past weekend with some familiar competitors. Both champions replaced the winners from a year ago at the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course.
