Texas House begins congressional redistricting

Every 10 years, congressional districts in Texas are redrawn to accommodate for population change based on the U.S. Census results.

Georgetown’s impact fee requirements changed

Georgetown city staff are looking at how Senate Bill 1883 could affect the municipality’s ability to collect development impact fees.

Keeping an eye on development, zoning bills

The final bills of the 2025 Texas Legislature are up for discussion with less than 25 days left in the session. Georgetown Mayor Josh Schroeder said this year the city has had a greater impact on legislative actions than in the past due to city staff ’s work with state representatives.

The Texas Legislature: Williamson County, Georgetown eye bills with impact

With the Texas Legislature two months from the finish line, Williamson County officials have their eyes on specific bills that could directly impact Wilco residents and cities.

City staff works with legislators to reduce local impact

There’s less than a month left for state legislators to file bills for the 89th Legislative Session, and Georgetown’s city staff is already tracking more than 1,000 bills on their “watch list” because of the potential impacts to the city’s residents.

Senate Bill would open door to more multifamily units

One of Governor Greg Abbott’s priority bills this legislative session is Senate Bill 840, which would allow multifamily housing to be built in areas with commercial, industrial or mixed-use zoning.
