The Palace Theatre celebrates 100 years

In 1926, silent films were loaded up into movie projectors and cast onto the screen at the Palace Theatre at 810 South Austin Avenue. The silver screen dazzled patrons with the stars of the day, telling stories that brought far away worlds to Georgetown’s population.

The wizarding world of Harry Potter will come alive at East View High School this weekend with the Texas premiere of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. EVHS is among only 29 schools across the nation selected by the Wands at the Ready competition to perform the high school rendition of the play.

The Palace Theatre has served Williamson County for almost 100 years. The Georgetown facility opened in 1925 as a movie theater and switched to play productions in 1991. The Springer Stage, 810 South Austin Avenue, holds 291 patrons within the vintage theater.

Georgetown Palace Theatre extends season

The Georgetown Palace Theatre has extended its theatrical season to last the full calendar year, and is adding four additional shows to its 2023-2024 season. The new additions include Sweeney Todd, Misery, White Christmas and Dickens’ Christmas Carol.
