Georgetown residents get free bus ride to downtown Austin

A regional commuter bus route for the Georgetown/ Round Rock area into Austin launched a month ago as part of an expansion from the Capital Area Rural Transportation System. This route gives riders access to downtown Austin, and is free for a limited time to encourage use.

Georgetown transportation projects see price increases

Austin Avenue bridge rehab This is the rehabilitation of the Austin Avenue bridge that includes new safety rated rails, required maintenance and a new bridge deck. The original estimated completion date was April 15, 2026, but has been pushed back to August.

Georgetown offers rideshares as public transit option

Later this year, the City of Georgetown will launch a transportation program that will allow residents to take rides with UberX that will be partially paid for by the city. This is part of the city’s effort to create a public transportation system for residents.

Georgetown continues transit talks

The City of Georgetown continues to look at ways to improve and expand its public transportation options. During a March 26 workshop, city council heard proposed ideas and what the next steps include for the Transportation Development Plan.
