Flags retired with honor

A flag retirement ceremony was held at the Field of Honor on Friday, November 14, 2025. Taking part in the ceremony were members of Scouting America Troop 1096, representatives from the Civil Air Patrol, veterans and active duty military, plus members of the public.

The bright Texas sun warmed up an otherwise chilly Veterans Day morning at the Georgetown-Williamson County Veterans Memorial Plaza. Those from Sun City, Georgetown and the surrounding areas came to honor those who had served and reflected on the words of keynote speaker Ret. U.S. Army Chaplain Col.

Field of Honor, veterans events happening this week

The annual Sun City Veterans Day Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, November 11, at the Georgetown-Williamson County Veterans Memorial Plaza, at 2 Texas Drive at 11 a.m. The East View High School band and orchestra will provide music beginning at 10:45 a.m.This year’s guest speaker is Colonel Paul F.

Sun City residents hope that, by next Memorial Day, the Veterans Memorial Plaza will have a fresh look.

Celebrate veterans with Field of Honor, Sun City events

The Rotary Club of Georgetown Foundation will be hosting the eighth annual Field of Honor at San Gabriel Park from November 9-17 in honor of Veteran’s Day on November 11. There will be more than 2,000 flags set up across 10-acres at the park in honor of veterans.

Field of Honor

The Field of Honor — organized by Georgetown’s Rotary Club every year in honor of Veteran’s Day — is looking for beneficiaries for this year’s event. The Field of Honor will take place in San Gabriel Park this year from November 9-17.

Sun City lunch, toy drive supports military families

Heavy rain and cold wind didn’t deter more than 100 people from attending the Veterans Day Celebration Luncheon and Program in Sun City Friday, November 11, after the conclusion of the community’s Veterans Day service.
