Experiencing a power outage in Georgetown? You’re not alone.
The City of Georgetown Wednesday afternoon reported that city staff continues to receive reports of power outages caused by ice-laden tree limbs falling on power lines.

Georgetown and Jarrell ISDs have canceled classes and all school activities for Wednesday, February 1.
The National Weather Service is expecting the significant icing event to continue through Wednesday, with multiple rounds of freezing rain today and tomorrow.

Update: Georgetown and Jarrell ISD schools closed Tuesday due to weather

The ongoing cold snap has caused changes in area school district schedules. Classes and all school activities have been canceled for Tuesday, January 31, in both Georgetown and Jarrell ISDs. Both districts announced the closure about 3 p.m. on Monday.

Tornado causes property damage, overturned trailers near Jarrell

A tornado touched down in the north part of the county Monday evening as a cold front passed through the region, bringing high winds, rain and lightning.
As of Tuesday morning, no loss of life had been reported, but damage was recorded in Jarrell.
