Estimated $34 million in infrastructure damages caused by flooding in Williamson County

Williamson County begins federal grant process

With 23 local applications and the Trump Administration planning to cut Community Block Development Grant funding, Grant Manager Sally Bardwell said Williamson County has to weigh its options carefully to ensure funding is optimized.

County approves additional funding for floodplain mapping

Williamson County commissioners voted 3-2 to approve additional funding for the Atlas 14 project, which includes contracts with three private engineering firms to complete an updated floodplain map for the county.

County highlights new mental health resources, programs

Bluebonnet Trails Community Services is working on three new programs to address mental health conditions in collaboration with Williamson County.

Air aware: County, state stride to reduce air pollution

Williamson County commissioners designated May 5-9 as Air Quality Awareness Week. Air quality in the Austin Metropolitan Statistical Area was classified as “moderate or worse” for nearly half of the days in 2024, according to the Air Quality Index.

County debuts refashioned mitigation plan

The Williamson County Commissioners Court approved a revamped Hazard Mitigation Plan on April 29. Emergency Management Director Bruce Clements said this plan — updated every 10 years — includes a detailed risk assessment, an inventory of infrastructure and mitigation strategies.

Williamson County Commissioners approved a resolution Tuesday, April 15, to have the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority conduct a traffic study along the Ronald Reagan Boulevard corridor.

Grant could fund county tornado sirens

The cities of Granger and Weir are looking to the county to apply for federal grants that could bring tornado sirens to eastern Williamson County.

Williamson County completes framework for new headquarters

Williamson County officials commemorated the structural completion of the new county administration building Friday afternoon with a topping off ceremony.“The topping out ceremony celebrates a monumental moment in the construction of any building,”  Commissioner Valerie Covey said.
