Williamson County prosecutor honored by Children’s Advocacy Center

Williamson County District Attorney Ryan Bownds received the Prosecution MVP Award from the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center Multidisciplinary Team on December 6. The award recognizes his outstanding efforts in pursuing justice for child victims of abuse and neglect.

Williamson County reenacts tax abatement guidelines

During the December 5 Commissioners Court meeting, commissioners held a public hearing and discussed the re-adoption of county tax abatement guidelines.

$20,000 awarded to CASA of Williamson County

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Williamson County received a $20,000 grant from the Texas Bar Foundation to assist in program growth.   CASA Wilco plans to use these funds to help fund an additional Advocate Supervisor position, according to a news release.

Operation Christmas Child thanks residents for festive giving

Charity initiative Operation Christmas Child is celebrating another successful year of gift-giving. Several churches in Williamson County were among nearly 5,000 U.S. drop-off locations collecting shoebox gifts for children overseas during Operation Christmas Child’s National Collection Week.

Williamson County Livestock showcases kids’ work

The Williamson County Livestock Association will host its 78th annual Livestock Show and auction in the Williamson County Expo Center. Lasting a week, the show will begin on Sunday, December 3 with over 500 exhibitors participating in different shows.

District Attorney set to host remembrance ceremony

The Williamson County District Attorney's Office invites residents to the county courthouse for the 11th Annual Tree of Angels at 6 p.m. Tuesday, December 5.

Unemployment decreases across county

The Texas Workforce Commission released updated unemployment numbers for Central Texas counties for October 2023.  In October, unemployment in Williamson County decreased to 3.5 percent after spending two months at 3.7 percent.
