$100,000 match grant encourages donations to Palace

The W.D. Kelley Foundation is giving The Palace Theatre a $100,000 matching grant to cover needed repairs inside the theatre. “We appreciate the important work Georgetown Palace Theatre is doing in our community and are glad to support [their] efforts,” said Carl Illig, W.D.

The Palace needs $500,000 for repairs to bring it back 'like you've never seen'

In what was supposed to be a year of celebrating 100 years of the Palace Theatre, mother nature had a different plan. The winter storm and low temperatures on January 24-26 damaged  The Palace Theatre on the Square, putting a damper on plans and closing the theatre for several months.

Tenors to perform at two fundraisers this week supporting Palace Theatre rebuild effort

The Palace Theatre celebrates 100 years

In 1926, silent films were loaded up into movie projectors and cast onto the screen at the Palace Theatre at 810 South Austin Avenue. The silver screen dazzled patrons with the stars of the day, telling stories that brought far away worlds to Georgetown’s population.

The Georgetown Palace Theatre opened Disney’s Frozen November 21 on the historic Springer stage under the direction of Dr. Kristen Rogers.“For the first time in forever, experience the musical phenomenon that has taken the world by storm,” Palace promotions state.
