Georgetown Police shoot 'violent' suspect on Square, area closed Saturday afternoon

On Saturday, there was an officer-involved shooting on the Square in Georgetown. A large law enforcement presence is still in the area, and Georgetown Police are still investigating. Some businesses were locked down temporarily after the shooting, and most areas downtown are being blocked.

Georgetown’s Juliet Italian Kitchen finds a new life as event space

Juliet Italian Kitchen on the Square is rebranding to Juliet Social — a cafe style restaurant with event spaces that can cater up to 180 people.

Gumbo’s North closes on the Square

After 11 years on the Square, Gumbo’s North has closed. The restaurant — located in the Old Masonic Lodge building on the corner of Seventh and Main streets — originally opened in October of 2012.
A  menorah placed near Grace Heritage Center at Ninth and Main Streets, is seen on Sunday, December 18, 2022, the first night of Hanukkah.  The menorah, placed by Georgetown's Messiah Echad, will add a light each night beginning at 6 p.m through Hanukkah.
