Gold Burger Diner ready for service on the Square

Burgers, boozy milkshakes, all-day breakfast and a jukebox that plays old tunes are now on the Square.Gold Burger Diner could open as early as next week on Seventh Street in the building that housed Gold’s Department store from 1936 to 1996.

Family-run restaurant Jaiwai Thai Kitchen brings Thai dishes to the Square

Located in the northeast corner of the Square, Jaiwai Thai Kitchen offers traditional Central Thailand dishes in a small space that’s minimally decorated with a faux hedge wall and neon signs. “We’re not that fancy. We care more about the taste,” Owner Tom Jaiwai explained.

Hippo Cafe a resilient spot in Hutto

“There’s a legend that a circus train was passing through Hutto on the train tracks that you can see just outside our window,” said Scott Feller, owner of Hippo Cafe. “The circus stopped to get water for the steam engine and the hippo broke out of his pen and got into the creek.

Hutto home to future Chuy’s restaurant

Popular Tex-Mex chain Chuy’s is coming to Hutto. According to a post on the city’s Facebook page, the restaurant will be off US 79 and Alliance Boulevard as part of the Townwest Commons Phase II development. The restaurant is set to be over 5,000 square feet with additional patio seating.

New neighborhood bar and restaurant opening in July

A new restaurant, the Palomino, is set to open next month inside what used to be Bob’s Catfish-N-More on East Morrow street near San Gabriel Park.

Tastes of the Town: Alma opens at The Hacienda

Casual elegance honors Texas tradition at Alma by Stephan Pyles. The restaurant is located at The Hacienda property near the south entrance to Sun City. The official opening for the much awaited restaurant was May 9.
