Hill Country Art Club works displayed at Healing Arts Gallery

The current exhibit at the Healing Arts Gallery in St. David’s Georgetown Hospital features 32 paintings from the Hill Country Art Club’s accomplished artists. For people interested in things to do, expanding their experiences and seeing good art in and about Texas, this is the exhibit for you.

It's Christmas tamale time

Some folks dream of a white Christmas, but visions of tamales dance in my head. It’s tamale season.  Tamales date back to the Aztecs, Mayans and Incans. The word “tamale” comes from the Aztec word for wrap. Tamales, made from corn, were sent out with hunters, travelers and soldiers.

Historic Home Tour highlight old Georgetown

Preservation Georgetown’s Home for the Holidays tour featured five beautifully decorated homes in Georgetown’s beautiful Old Town District.  The group hosted the annual holiday home tour December 10 and 11.

Baking cookies ahead of Christmas

Well, there are about 10 days left until Christmas. I’m sharing some new cookie recipes today that, hopefully, are just in time for more holiday baking, cookie swaps, food gifts for friends and for having on hand for company coming.

Round Rock excellence award goes to Wilco Art Guild

Scot Wilkinson, director for arts and culture in Round Rock, presented the Award of Excellence for 2021-2022 to the Williamson County Art Guild at the recent Round Rock Arts luncheon.  Williamson County Art Guild President Rob Neff accepted the award on behalf of the guild.

Beautiful fall foliage means free compost for everyone

Trees offer a lot of great things to our world. They provide shade on hot days, they are beautiful points of interest in the landscape and they give off oxygen. Trees go one step further by providing free compost every fall.

It’s Tuna time again in Georgetown

The Palace Playhouse production of A Tuna Christmas debuted to a full house December 2. Ed Howard, Jaston Williams and Joe Sears created Greater Tuna and first presented it in venues around Austin in 1981.
