The Williamson Museum honors Sun newspaper family

The 11th annual Cattleman’s Ball swings into life at the Sun City Ballroom September 23 at 5:30 p.m. This year’s honorees are publishers Clark Thurmond and Linda Scarbrough, who own The Williamson County Sun in Georgetown — an independent newspaper owned and operated by their family since 1948.

‘Boomtown’ gala for Florence boosters

The third annual Florence Chamber Gala is set for Saturday, September 23, at Reunion Ranch west of Georgetown.   The gala will serve a steak dinner, music by Jarrell's classic rock band JR’s Jukebox, live and silent auctions, raffle, a photo booth and a cash bar.

Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church Bazaar

The Annual Saints Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church Parish Bazaar was held on Sunday, September 3, 2023.  Attendees were able to get to-go plates in a line formed outside the parish hall, or could dine inside.  The plates included brisket, sausage, dressing, green beans, potatoes, slaw and peaches.

Georgetown Eagles start football season strong

Article was written by Mary Shoales and Amy Fangman, sophomores at Georgetown High School.  Kicking off the football season with a western-themed game, the Georgetown Eagles pulled out a 37-7 win over Copperas Cove last Friday.

Senior Rodeo

The Texas Senior Pro Rodeo Association's rodeo was held on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the Williamson County Expo Center. The rodeo was founded in 1978 and conducts rodeos from March through October each year.  The events are open to anyone at least 40-years-old.

Harley’s Angels Sanctuary sets annual fundraiser for September

Harley’s Angels Sanctuary — a dog rescue based in Florence — is having its annual fundraiser from 2-6 p.m. September 23 at Mulligan’s Restaurant and Bar in Sun City. There will be a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction from 2 -5 p.m., as well as vendors selling holiday gifts, art and baked goods.

Play Time: Crazy about 'Crazy for You' at the Palace Theatre

The romantic comedy musical Crazy for You opened at the Palace Theatre June 30. The play, written by Ken Ludwig, won the 1992 Tony Award, the 1993 Olivier Award and the 1994 Dora Award for Best Musical.
