Williamson County closed for Good Friday

illiamson County offices will be closed on Friday, March 29, in observance of Good Friday.    County offices will be closed, however, residents may utilize online services that are offered in various departments, according to a news release from the county.

Everything to know ahead of Georgetown’s Red Poppy Festival

The Red Poppy Capital of Texas will celebrate its 25th annual Red Poppy Festival during April 26-28, with vendors, food, activities and stage acts for the entire family congregating in downtown Georgetown.

Williamson County attracts new investors in bond sales

The Williamson County Commissioners Court heard an update on recent bond sales during the March 19 meeting.    About $141 million was sold for road bonds to fund $160 million worth of projects. Additionally, $152 million in tax notes were sold to fund $167 million in projects.

Signs around Georgetown could get a facelift

Signage around downtown and other parts of Georgetown that helps direct visitors and add to the aesthetic of the city could be updated according to Downtown and Tourism Director Kim McAuliffe, who spoke about potential changes during the March 12 Georgetown City Council workshop.

Richarte principal named new Georgetown Project CEO

After longtime CEO of The Georgetown Project Leslie Janca announced last week that she would be retiring from her role, the nonprofit announced Rob Dyer, the current principal of Richarte High School, would step in as the group’s new CEO. Mr. Dyer will fully step into the role this summer.

Georgetown details eclipse preparations, resident safety

The April eclipse will see thousands of people descend on the Texas Hill Country to catch a glimpse on this rare celestial event. Georgetown’s Office of Emergency Management is preparing for this influx of people through city planning and providing advice for residents.
