Protect your pipes against winter weather

During the winter months, below freezing temperatures can make outdoor pipes and irrigation systems freeze and burst.  In order to protect irrigation backflows, wrapping systems in insulation can prevent future damage.

Williamson County AgriLife kicks off new year with events

The Williamson County AgriLife Extension office will start the new year with multiple events beginning January 2024.     Green Thumbs Up Gardening Program Master Gardener Lora Green will be discussing hardscape and how to integrate it into your outdoor areas, according to the press release.

Throw out old hazardous waste in the new year

Georgetown will host a hazardous waste collection event for 400 solid waste Texas Disposal Systems customers.  Residents who are solid waste Texas Disposal Systems customers who want to participate must call 512-930-3640 or email customercare@georgetown.org to sign up for the January 20 event.

Art Center Programming expands in January

Beginning in January, the city’s arts and culture program will “begin taking a more active role in the management of” the Art Center facility, according to a city press release. The city will continue to partner with the Georgetown Art Works nonprofit and the Cordovan Art School.

Cupid Chase will make your heart race

Georgetown’s 29th annual Cupid’s Chase 5K and Fun Run will take place on February 10. The run/walk will begin at 9 a.m. in San Gabriel Park.  The race will begin and end in the park, and registration cost is $30 per person for those 11 and older.

Georgetown approves year-end budget amendments

Georgetown City Council members were presented with Fiscal Year 2023 year-end budget amendments December 12. Every year, city staff estimate the expense and revenue year-end projections based on the annual budget.

The Commissioners Court honored Peggy Vasquez for her 31 years of working for the county attorney’s office. Ms. Vasquez began her career in 1993, according to a resolution read by commissions.

New Georgetown restaurant La Riv going strong

One of Georgetown’s newest restaurants, La Riv Kitchen and Bar, held its soft opening on November 14. On its second night, the new restaurant welcomed 117 guests. “It was phenomenal,” said Johnny Pincay, La Riv’s executive chef. “It was just word-of-mouth.
