Commissioners approved new hospital rate

The Williamson County Commissioners Court held a public hearing and voted to approve a new Local Provider Participation Funds hospital rate at the October 24 meeting in the County Courthouse.

ESD 9 voting error

Williamson County discovered an error with the early voting ballots of some residents within Emergency Service District 9 and is working with the Secretary of State’s Office on a solution.

Internet provider Optimum upgrades G’town network

Optimum, a provider of internet, phone and television services, announced on October 23 that it has upgraded its local network in Georgetown.  The company’s 100 percent fiber internet services will be made available to residents and businesses.

Georgetown Eagles get big win to start fall season

The Georgetown Eagle boys have started the fall golfing season with a victory in Victoria. Under some exceptional play to start the new school year, the Eagle boys captured the Victoria East 2023 Fall Classic in Victoria. “This was a course we have never been to,” explained coach Casey Leatherman.

Preservation Georgetown honors historic shotgun house

Opening the Autumn Art Stroll Thursday afternoon, Preservation Georgetown presented a plaque to the Georgetown Cultural Citizens Memorial Association to commemorate the Gertrude Randolph House and Museum.

Poet Kevin Young gives lecture at Southwestern University

“What interests me is how poetry can provide a witness to history,” Kevin Young said before his Roy and Margaret Shilling Lecture at Southwestern University Friday, October 13. Mr. Young is the poetry editor at The New Yorker and spoke to students, faculty, alumni and other community members.
Jude Marquez, 10, and his brother Micah, 6, helped send rubber ducks into the San Gabriel River  during the annual Duck Race held Saturday, October 21, 2023 at San Gabriel Park.   The annual event is a fundraiser for the  American Association of University Women (A.A.U.W.). 50 rubber ducks were released into the water in five separate heats.  The top winners in each heat were gathered together for a championship heat.
