Georgetown police looking for missing 16-year-old girl

Georgetown Police are looking for 16-year-old Ava Zandra Harris, reported as a runaway who has been missing from her Georgetown home since July 30.
Police said Ava’s parents reported they have not heard from her and are concerned because she does not have her medications with her.

GISD trustees officially hire new superintendent

In a special meeting on August 7, Georgetown ISD trustees unanimously hired Devin Padavil as the district’s next superintendent.
Following the board vote, Mr. Padavil thanked the board and acknowledged the “high hopes” trustees have for his leadership.

Williamson County Commissioners Court supported the creation of a Jarrell ISD Police Department during its Tuesday, August 1, meeting. According to a signed agreement, the county will provide the school district with dispatch services and access to public safety software systems.

Georgetown to use virtual reality for lifeguard training

Georgetown is one of two cities in the United States selected to participate in a beta test for a new Lifeguard Virtual Reality Training App.
The Parks and Recreation Department is working with the American Red Cross to implement the technology which is expected to be released later this year.
