State districts, GISD brace for 2023 STAAR school ratings

Texas public school educators have September 28 circled on their calendars — the day the Texas Education Agency releases its 2023 ratings for public school campuses and districts.
Many fear the news may not be good.

Starting the Pats’ first set strong, Ashlyn Walther scored the initial two points with back-to-back aces.

Central Texas Philharmonic pulls out the stops at annual fundraiser

The Central Texas Philharmonic will host its annual Crescendo fundraiser Sunday, September 17, to help generate funds for the 2023-2024 season.
The fundraiser will take place at the Sheraton Hotel from 6 to 9 p.m. and will feature Philharmonic musicians, hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and live auction.

Georgetown ISD trustees recently got a first look at 2023 Reading and Math STAAR scores for students in grades 3 through 8 — and the conclusion was, “We’re holding steady with a slight improvement,” according to Wes Vanicek, GISD’s chief strategist for Assessment and Feedback.
