Georgetown Parkinson’s group sees new leadership, continued community service

April is Parkinson’s Awareness Month, and World Parkinson Day is April 11. Happy birthday to James Parkinson, the English surgeon whose 1817 work described what would later be named Parkinson’s disease. The Parkinson color and symbol is the red tulip named for James Parkinson.

Nonprofit Good Neighbors GTX aims to expand its reach

Good Neighbors GTX started in fall 2023 when resident Susan Cox gathered a group of women from her ministry who were interested in helping out young women and children in the community.

Williamson County stresses importance of sexual assault awareness

Williamson County commissioners recognized April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month during its April 1 meeting. “I know that at times it can feel like a proclamation is just words,” said Ryan Bownds, chief prosecutor of the special victims unit for the District Attorney's office.

Come to Two Step Inn prepared

The third annual Two Step Inn country music festival takes place this weekend – April 5 and 6 – at San Gabriel Park. Miranda Lambert and Alan Jackson will headline the festival Saturday, April 5.

Development seeks city support for roads, utilities

Developers behind a proposed 620-acre, mixed-use subdivision in the northwest corner of Georgetown’s extraterritorial jurisdiction are working to become a Public Improvement District with the city to help fund public utility and roadway infrastructure.

State of the City address: preparing for city growth

Residents had an opportunity to learn the latest about Georgetown city projects and efforts and hear from city officials during the 2025 State of the City event and address Thursday, March 27.
