Ground breaks on Georgetown SportClips Family YMCA

The SportClips Family YMCA that will be located at 6200 Williams Drive had its groundbreaking on May 29 after being approved by voters in a 2023 bond election. The city and YMCA are sharing the cost of the facility, with Georgetown contributing $10 million and the YMCA contributing $17 million.

Seeds of Strength hits milestone

Seeds of Strength, a women’s philanthropic giving circle founded in 2010, announced that it has raised and distributed $2,547,488 for Georgetown nonprofits since the group’s inception.

Wilco AgriLife Extension Office offers resources for bakers, gardeners

While some residents were in line to vote or attend court hearings at the Williamson County Annex last Thursday, others enjoyed the Williamson County AgriLife Extension Office’s Lunch and Learn sourdough breadmaking class.

The Palace Theatre is back, with Jesus Christ Superstar

Georgetown's Red Poppy Lot will turn into second downtown parking garage

Mere months after the public parking garage at Sixth and Main opened, the City of Georgetown is already working on its second downtown parking garage – this time as a partnership with the Texas Municipal League.

Georgetown water, wastewater rates will increase

Typical Georgetown residential water and wastewater bills are set to increase by an average of 10.3 percent per year starting in 2027 and through 2031. Typical commercial bills would increase by 11.8 percent a year during that period.

Laurie’s Cafe opens for dinner, maintains its tea-room charm

Laurie’s Cafe, known for its homestyle dishes and nostalgic feel, is now open for dinner on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings. The late-day service marks a new chapter for the longtime Georgetown restaurant. Jacob Ernest, the current owner’s son, leads the new dinner shifts.
