Jarrell ISD trustees approve $324.6 million bond package for May 6 ballot

Jarrell ISD trustees unanimously agreed Wednesday, February 8, to hold a school bond election on May 6. The bond totals $324.6 million and includes the construction of two elementary schools and a middle school. Trustees approved the bond package at a special school board meeting.

Second Jarrell ISD victim dies after last week’s Austin hookah lounge shooting

The Jarrell ISD student who had been wounded in the deadly Austin hookah lounge shooting on January 28 died from his injuries February 1, the Austin Police Department reported February 2.

A major ice storm in Williamson County left many areas without power, with downed trees throughout the area. Temperatures began to climb above the freezing mark by Thursday.

Jarrell High School student Brayden Bolyard, 17, was killed in a shooting at the Moon Palace Hookah Lounge in Northwest Austin on Saturday night, January 28, the Austin Police Department confirmed Monday. Another Jarrell student was injured in the incident.

Jarrell ISD names principal for new elementary school

The Jarrell ISD Board of Trustees approved Craig Wilson as the principal of Double Creek Elementary, the district’s new elementary school opening in August. Mr. Wilson will join JISD on February 1.

Jarrell ISD trustees are considering placing a $324.6 million bond package on the May 6 ballot, and they’ve set a meeting to hear community input. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m., February 8, at the JISD Admin Annex, 508 North Fifth Street.

Williamson County’s Scott Matthew was tapped by Governor Greg Abbott to chair the Texas Juvenile Justice Board. A Georgetown resident, Mr. Matthew serves as the executive director and chief juvenile probation officer of Williamson County Juvenile Services.
