Georgetown, Williamson County finishes work on new Southwestern Boulevard section
A new half-mile segment of Southwestern Boulevard, from Raintree Drive to SE Inner Loop, was opened to traffic after a ribbon cutting ceremony on March 18.
The project added two lanes with a center turn lane, right turn lanes at intersections and underground stormwater drainage pipes and curbs. There are also wastewater and water lines to increase capacity in the area.
“It is an important connection for us on the southern side of Georgetown, and it’s also a critical connection for Williamson County, and we really appreciate the partnership with Williamson County on this project,” Georgetown City Manager David Morgan said.
The new road is outside the driveway to the new Williamson County Administration Building, which is still under construction.
“The county has many buildings that this road will connect to Wilco Way,” County Judge Steve Snell said. “We look at this as being a very busy corridor for the residents of Williamson County as they navigate the many county services.”
The project was approved by voters in a 2015 transportation bond and construction started in 2024. About $3.5 million came from the city’s bond and another $3 million came from Williamson County voter-approved road bonds.
