Ascension Seton Williamson embarks on expansion
Launches new campaign
Ascension Seton Williamson broke ground on a $230 million Round Rock hospital expansion project September 26.
The project will bring a new six-story tower, along with 160 beds, two new operating rooms, an additional MRI, a new cath lab, an observation unit and an expanded emergency room.
“I’m excited about expanding our comprehensive medical services with our new facilities,” said Andrew Gnann, president of Ascension Seton Williamson. “By expanding our footprint in Williamson County, we will enhance our ministry's mission to provide high quality, compassionate care to those we are privileged to serve.”
Additionally, a 34,000-square-foot area will be dedicated to outpatient wound care, cardiac rehab and pediatric rehab.
The expansion accommodates the growing population, Mr. Gnann said.
“As this community grows, the demand for healthcare services continues to grow,” he said. “So if you look at our volume trends, they've just been doing nothing but increase. They are choosing us because our volumes are really high. We want to make sure we can care for them.”
He said the process for selecting the outpatient and cardiac care was due to high demand. He explains that the first floor is mostly mechanical to support the hospital system. Then the second floor is going to be shelled. The intensive care unit will be on a contiguous floor so it can be easier for the patients, associates and physicians to have them all right on one floor.
“So we'll start with probably our third floor, I would guess, and then open 32 beds,” he said. “Then go in, as you know, making sure that we want to make sure we open successfully and carefully, and so making sure that we have all the staff in place.”
Ascension Seton Williamson opened in 2008, and the hospital currently offers multiple services:
181 beds
Level II trauma services
Level II NICU and maternal levels of care
Dell Children’s ER
Accredited spine center
50,000+ patients served annually & 50,000 ED visits
“As the Central Texas population continues to grow, it’s crucial that we have the best facilities and capacity in place to meet our community’s needs,” said Andy Davis, president and CEO of Ascension Texas. “This project is a great example of our commitment to creating new jobs in Williamson County and serving all those who come through our doors with high-quality care.”
During the ceremony, the Ascension Seton Williamson Foundation launched “HereCare,” a philanthropic campaign that will serve as a resource to accelerate healthcare innovation in this community.
Jennifer Hayhurst, executive director of the Seton Williamson Foundation, said the HereCare campaign will raise funds to support the growth of the hospital through specialty care services, technology and equipment.
“We are so excited to make a huge impact on the work that's being done here at Ascension Seton Williamson,” she said.
The expansion is scheduled to open in 2026.
