About 100 Georgetown women who are members of Chapter JK of Philanthropic Educational Organization International, or PEO, recently hosted a fundraiser by attending the International Quilt Festival in Houston. The fundraiser was the first for the chapter members.

Members of The Worship Place this year have collected and packed more than 1,300 shoeboxes for Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child program. The program collects shoeboxes filled with gifts such as toys, school supplies and hygiene items for children in need across the world.

The City of Georgetown will serve a free sit-down meal on a first-come, first-served basis Thursday, November 24. Georgetown’s Community Thanksgiving will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Georgetown Community Center, 445 East Morrow Street, in San Gabriel Park.
