Manon (“Tina”) Lucy Marentette

Manon (“Tina”) Lucy Marentette passed away peacefully in her home in Georgetown on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Her husband, Joe, and members of their family were present at the time of her death. Tina was born to loving parents Phillip and Jacqueline Bourget, on April 19, 1944, in Montreal, Canada. Tina and her husband Joe were high school sweethearts and were married on New Year’s Eve in 1960.

Tina epitomized the free spirit of the 60’s, challenging many of the “norms” of the times. Although quiet and somewhat “reclusive” by nature, Tina challenged herself by landing a job at a family-owned Ford auto dealership in Chelsea Michigan where she was the first female to work in sales. Over the next eight years she rose to become their No. 1 salesperson and was offered her own dealership! It was also here that she got the nickname “Tina”. The owner of the dealership didn’t feel that “Manon” or “Tini” (her other nickname) were appropriate for her business card, so he changed it to “Tina” which became the name that she used for the rest of her life.

Over the years Tina developed several “loves” but her first one was always her children! Close behind this was spending time on beaches, so she and Joe traveled extensively, making numerous trips to places like Bali, Maui, and Cozumel, as well as their family camp.

Tina and Joe moved to Houston to be closer to their children. It was here that Tina developed her “artistic” skills when she went to work for a photography company, focusing on taking pictures of students at several of the local schools.

Her final move was to their home in Sun City in Georgetown where she lived for 17 years. During this time, she continued to be very active, enjoying everything that life in Sun City had to offer. She and Joe participated in several of the Sun City Clubs including the Zoomers and a Wine Tasting group, going to numerous concerts and dances, taking trips to places across the country and other parts of the world, and participating in virtually every event offered by the block as well as hosting the extremely popular “Cinco de Mayo” party! She also continued to follow her love of art by becoming a long-time member of the Art Club, focusing on painting. Many of her paintings adorn the walls of their home today.

Tina is preceded in death by both of her parents. She is survived by her husband, Joseph (“Joe”); their three children, Joseph Jr., Patrick, and Deborah; her three sisters, Monique, Marcy, and Michelle; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her gentle smile and waves hello to everyone in sight will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and neighbors.

Joe Marentette would like to invite you to “The Celebration of Life” for his wife Tina on Friday, February 3, at “The Retreat,” 1220 Cattleman Drive in Sun City. The event will start time is 6:30 p.m.  Please send your RSVP to Joe at pappyjoetx@aol.com or 512-863-8210.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations made in the name of Tina Marentette to the “Alzheimer’s Association” or “The Caring Place” in Georgetown.
