Margaret Olive Kurick

Margaret Olive Kurick (Margie) went to be with the Lord on March 22, 2023. She lived her 93 years fully and completely, with grace and laughter.

Margie was born on May 2, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois, to Paul and Anna Roetter. She spent her elementary school years in Chicago and moved with her family to Elkhorn, Wisconsin, in high school. Margie’s father bought a small farm that they named “Tiny Acres.” There were many funny stories of their farming exploits. Margie’s best friend in high school was Geraldine Kurick and Geri introduced Margie to her future husband.

Margie married James (Jim) Kurick on February 3, 1951. They had three daughters and raised each to be self-sufficient. From gardening to sewing to carpentry to financial acuity…the girls were always busy learning from their parents from their home in Perrysburg, Ohio.

Margie worked as a legal secretary for many years and completed her career as a judge’s secretary in Wood County, Ohio. She loved the work and was fascinated by the legal process. After retirement in 1987, Margie and Jim moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where they made many wonderful friends and loved the boating and beaching life. They travelled extensively in their motor home across the United States and Canada. They also loved to travel internationally and had been to more than 30 countries.

Margie and Jim moved to Sun City in 2014 to be closer to family. Margie was incredibly proud of each of her daughters and grandchildren. She was a strong supporter of education and created an endowed scholarship in her husband’s name at the University of Wisconsin after his death in 2017. Margie and Jim had shared a long and loving 66-year marriage.

Margie lived six years after Jim’s death at the Delaney in Georgetown, Texas. She was very active and leaves many dear friends and staff members. Margie is survived by her sister-in-law, Geraldine Wesner, daughter, Linda Kurick (Larry Robinson), and Linda’s children, Vince Bencivengo (Lisa), Frank McAnally (Cassandra) and Sara, daughter, Liane Marshman (Jim), daughter, Lynette Barker (David), and their children, Amanda Hibbard (Justin) and Alyssa Moore (Jason). She also had eight great-grandchildren. A private service will be held in May at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery in Corpus Christi, Texas.
