Clarice June Geiger
Clarice June Brittian was born on June 6, 1930 near Hollister, Missouri. She had the brightest blue eyes and weighing under three pounds, she could be held in the palm of her father’s hand.
She lived in Hollister for her first five years, then the family moved to Pontiac Michigan where her father sought work in the factories. Clarice grew quickly, was beautiful and could make friends easily. During high school she held a party for band friends when a fellow band member arrived. He had recently enlisted in the Navy and was on leave and according to Clarice, “He looked smashing in his uniform.” This was her future husband, Peter. They married on a Thanksgiving weekend and bought a lovely home in Rockville, Maryland, just north of Washington, DC. Clarice was an artist and would paint large oil paintings for private shows at the civic center. They had three children - Peter, Shirley and Neal and three lovely grandchildren - Cote, Bailey and Johnny B, followed by two great grandchildren, Eli and Lincoln.
When Peter retired from the Navy Band, they moved to New York City, where Peter performed in Broadway musicals, then the family moved back to Pontiac for 30 years and finally in 1995 settling in Sun City Texas. It was here that Clarice felt the most at home - she loved her life here, especially her wonderful neighbors, friends and church community. Clarice and Pete have been deeply committed Unitarian Universalists attending services first in Bloomfield Michigan and then here in Texas. They were founding members of the San Gabriel Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Georgetown. Though she enjoyed painting, wood sculpture, pottery and drawing she also had a passion for creating beautiful peaceful gardens using sculptures and colorful plants.
Farewell to our beloved Clarice. You will be missed, remembered, and always loved.
