Austin Avenue Bridge reopens to the public after flooding
After being closed for inspection after the July 4 weekend floods, the Austin Avenue Bridge is now reopen to the public. The bridge was originally closed to check for potential damage caused by the water and the construction scaffolding under the bridge.
According to a Facebook post from the city, inspectors, contractors and engineering staff confirmed the bridge is safe to drive on. However, it might be closed to one lane across the next few weeks to address scaffolding.
"Continue to use caution and obey traffic control while driving in the area," the post read.
The trails underneath the bridge, as well as the Randy Morrow Trail and all trail crossings from Booty's Crossing into San Gabriel Park will be closed until further notice,
Additionally, due to ongoing planned construction to rehabilitate the structure, the western side of the bridge will remain closed, as it was before the storm.
