Witnesses stop attempted kidnapping at Berry Springs Park

At approximately 1:26 p.m. on December 27, the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call about an attempted kidnapping at Berry Springs Park, just outside Georgetown city limits.

According to the sheriff’s office, upon arrival at the park, deputies located 28-year-old Christopher Garza, who was being restrained by multiple witnesses that were in the park.

Those witnesses reported observing Mr. Garza allegedly attempting to kidnap a juvenile female at the park. Mr. Garza was taken into custody and transported to a hospital to treat injuries received prior to law enforcement’s arrival.

Additional details about the kidnapping attempt itself were not provided by the sheriff’s office.

“I would like to commend and thank the citizens who intervened and acted swiftly to protect a child from harm,” Sheriff Matt Lindemann said in a press release. “While incidents like this are rare in Williamson County, it is truly a blessing that the citizens in the park responded quickly and decisively to ensure a child’s safety.”

Mr. Garza has been charged with attempted kidnapping and failure to identify - giving false/fictitious information. Bonds have been set at $100,000 for the attempted kidnapping and $3,000 for failure to identify.

This is not Mr. Garza’s first run-in with the law in Williamson County. In 2023, he was arrested for assault causing bodily injury to a family member and in January 2025, he was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 0.15 or greater.
