Edgar Hugo “Ed” Albrecht Jr.

Edgar Hugo “Ed” Albrecht Jr. went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 22, 2026.

Ed was born in Austin, TX September 22, 1971 to Edgar H. Albrecht Sr. and Barbara Lynn Albrecht. Later, he graduated from Cross Plains High School and went on to attend Texas Tech University where his path into his lifelong career in building and construction began. Ed played (very seriously of course) in the dirt as a small child with Tonka Trucks and toy excavators and continued to do so in adulthood, though the size of the tractors did increase a bit. “Do what you love and call it work” may be the most fitting way to describe his approach to his business and his projects over the years.

While Ed was often neck deep in several projects at once and likely wouldn’t have had it any other way, his true pride, passion, and joy in life came from the family he had built. It is certain that he believed his greatest achievement in life to be his marriage to “Sharon Kay” as he often called her and his two wonderful children, SueEllen Grace and Brennan Zane. Anyone close to Ed knew without a doubt that these three meant more to Ed than the breath of life itself.

Ed found recreation through a number of outlets from hunting, playing golf, working on family land surrounded by nature and travelling the globe. Above all, though, his favorite pastime was watching and being involved in college sports and supporting Tech’s various teams in both victories and defeat. He was the epitome of a “die hard fan” and was genuinely offended at any negative discussion surrounding the teams up in Lubbock. There will be a tremendous gap left to fill in the stands next year in his absence.

Last, but certainly not least, it should be mentioned what a man of faith Ed was and how his daily interactions exemplified the Body of Christ in a way we should all strive to achieve. Describing him takes far more than one word, but several of those needed would undoubtedly include words like “selfless”, “giving”, “kind”, and countless other altruistic human qualities. If Ed had it and you needed it, there was no hesitation in him to share whatever he could to help another. Ed will be missed immensely by so many until the day we are united again and always loved and remembered.

Ed was preceded in Death by his Father and Mother, Edgar and Barbara, respectively.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon, his children, SueEllen and Brennan, his siblings Gayla Geer, Charlotte Haston, Christina Whitely, Tresha Corso, Milton Carlile Albrecht, Emma Light, and Andrew Albrecht. He leaves behind an entire generation of nieces and nephews who adored their uncle and a host of the most wonderful friends a man could ever hope to have.

A Graveside Memorial will be held at the Albrecht Family Cemetery in Cottonwood, TX at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 28, 2026 to remember his life and legacy.

Flowers may be ordered through Wilda’s Wildflowers, Cross Plains, TX.
